Give Back

An Opportunity to Give Back

I believe that in life, most of our personal achievements are actually built upon opportunities and gifts we receive from others. It is what we choose to do with those opportunities that determines our fate- be it success or failure. Without the help of those around us, no matter how hard we work, we will never truly rise to our full potential.

Because of that, once we are blessed to receive the fruits of our labor, it is important that we take time to “pay forward” gifts to others who can benefit from what we have to offer. Whether it is a little or a lot, we always have something to give that will be greatly appreciated by another.

From the inception of this website, I make a commitment to each of my clients that a potion of my commission will be donated to a charity such as one of the three listed below.

House of Faithe

One of the greatest examples I have ever seen of “paying it forward” is in the home of my dear friend, Faithe Tines. I sold Faithe and her husband, Ken, a home in 2009. Within no time at all, she had converted it in to the “House of Faith(e)” where she blesses people of all different backgrounds and social statuses with an opportunity to feel special and receive something new. Her garage is now a beautiful little “boutique” filled with ladies clothing, shoes and accessories that women generously donate to be given to others who may use and appreciate them.

She often brings in women from programs such as Teen Challenge and the Phoenix Dream Center and gives them an opportunity to “shop” (the items are free of course) and sometimes even gives them makeovers and does their hair. It is an amazing event to witness! Lives are transformed as these women are treated like queens.

Faithe, however, has no prerequisite that you are financially broke to receive. Her donations range from jeans and sweatshirts, to designers such as St. John and Chanel. I have walked in a couple of times to drop off bags of clothing I no longer wear, and walked out with a gorgeous new outfit that no one would ever guess had just been donated. Her point is this- that ALL women need a little blessing sometimes. And just as God does not discriminate, neither does she. She’s just a tool he uses to pass those blessings along.

So when you are cleaning out your current home and getting ready to move to your new Dream Home (that hopefully I played a part in helping you find!), remember the House of Faithe as a place to donate items you no longer need. She actually accepts much more than just clothing and gets any items she receives right in to the hands of those in need. She also has the ability to give you a tax deductible receipt through her sponsor, Phoenix First Assembly of God.

Phoenix Dream Center

The Phoenix Dream Center is an inner-city organization that provides food, clothing, shelter and life strategies to members of the community in need of a fresh start. I believe its purpose is best summed up in the mission statement: To Reach in and mine the incredible potential we believe lies within the lives of at-risk youth, the homeless, and the needy families of our community by restoring hope and allowing them to dream again. It offers a variety of programs including Christian-based recovery from multiple addictions, feeding and clothing ministries, career and life skills training, Adopt-a -Block, and its newest program called Project Rescue.

Especially dear to my heart, Project Rescue rescues and helps restore the lives of young women who have fallen victim to sexual exploitation through human trafficking. It operates two separate homes in the Phoenix area, one for young women ages 9 to 17 and another for women ages 18 through 30. While in the home, each young woman receives instruction in basic life skills, access to therapy and counseling, nutrition, the opportunity to receive her GED or high school diploma, access to a licensed physician, career training and legal help if needed. It is Project Rescue’s goal that upon leaving, each of these young women is equipped to live a healthy and independent life.

Children’s Miracle Network

In choosing a real estate brokerage, it was important to me to team up with a company who also believed in giving back. Realty One Group proudly sponsors the Children’s Miracle Network. Children’s Miracle Network is a non-profit organization that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals. Donations to the organization create miracles by funding medical care, research and education that saves and improves the lives of 17 million children each year.

Every child deserves the hope and healing of children’s hospitals. With the help of a Children’s Miracle Network hospital in their community, children of all ages and backgrounds can receive treatment for every imaginable disease and injury- from asthma and broken bones to cancer and heart defects. Children’s hospitals are also on the front lines of research, education and outreach programs that keep millions of kids out of the hospital each year.
